The Game UN:Me: A Cerebral Horror Merging Silent Hill with Among Us Gameplay

The recent Day of the Devs online presentation revealed a number of intriguing upcoming titles, but one especially has captured attention: UN:Me. Developed by Historia and Shueisha Games, this solo adventure appears to blend the dread-filled setting of a Silent Hill title with the paranoid deduction heart of Among Us.

"This is a unique experience where a young woman harboring several personalities within her needs to flee from a maze of the psyche," explains developer Yasukazu Kawai.

Stepping Into a Shattered Mind

In UN:Me, players take control of an unnamed female protagonist who appears to be of teenage years. Within her exist four distinct souls, all possessing unique anxieties and drives. These entities can seize control spontaneously, unleashing their innermost phobias upon her suddenly.

Based on showcased gameplay, much of the narrative takes place within a eerie medical facility, while additional clips show the protagonist navigating a abandoned chapel.

A World of Personal Horror

"What are you fearful of? What makes you uncomfortable?" poses creative lead Shun Sasaki. "High places. Confined spaces. People in power. Elements that appear minor to other people can activate something primal within us. This game delves into that idea — fears that are specific to every individual."

The central mechanic revolves around controlling whichever soul surfaces at a particular time. However, these identities will switch against your will as you play. While exploring, every persona's anxieties become amplified and assault the girl one after another. When the soul changes, so does the particular terror the player experiences.

Eerie Visuals and a Deadly Choice

Initially, UN:Me shares noticeable aesthetic parallels with the Silent Hill series. The setting is populated by orderlies who all share the identical visage, with disturbingly broad grins. Figures in the lobby have large flowers where their heads should be. Flowers are a recurring element, contrasting organic elegance with unnatural horror.

Yet, UN:Me introduces a singular twist. Players must determine which of the four entities haunting the protagonist is the "true" one. "Each of the souls asserts that the body is rightfully them," explains a developer. "During the game, you need to figure out who is real."

Once players believes a soul is an impostor, they must eliminate it. However, because every entity can deceive or hide the reality, it is incredibly simple to make a mistake.

"Perhaps you've already destroyed the real [soul] by your own actions," a voice states. "The final entity standing could be a fake. In any case, your decisions are irreversible."

UN:Me currently lacks a publicly announced release date, but it is can be wishlist on digital storefronts.
